Following extensive work last year, the North Terminal has been extended so that Arrivals and Departures are now on two different levels making it easier for passengers to find their way around.

The new building is expected to accommodate up to 20 million passengers per year by 2020 and cost £73 million pounds. The brand new entrance to the terminal has two moving walkways and a lift to the new inter-terminal shuttle service.

With extra space and clear signs inside the building, passenger circulation has improved and reduced queuing time has made it possible for passengers to enjoy the many shops and facilities on offer at the North Terminal.

The Sofitel hotel is located at the North Terminal and provides an undercover walkway directly into the terminal building from the hotel lobby. The walk into the terminal will take about 5 minutes.

The North Terminal is home to numerous airlines

The main airline operating at the North Terminal is BA. If you are flying from the North Terminal you may wish to stay in a North Terminal Hotel. However, all Gatwick hotels featured on Gatwickreservations.com operate regular shuttle bus services to both terminals.

North Terminal Departures

The check-in areas are located to the east of the building with a total of 144 desks, 18 of which are brand new and 4 of which are self service. There is only one small coffee shop in the check-in area but there are many more on offer in The Avenue on level 2 and in the Departure Lounge. Other facilities available in the Departure Lounge are internet access, a wireless hotspot, cash dispensers and bureaux de change as well as retail stores, bookstores and news shops.

North Terminal Arrivals

In the arrivals area, 3 new reclaim belts have been added for international arrivals and 1 for domestic arrivals. This has significantly reduced the time that passengers have to wait to collect their luggage. For those wishing to transfer to the South Terminal, the inter-terminal shuttle runs 24 hours per day, 7 days a week and takes just 2 minutes.

Parking at the North Terminal

Access to the Short Stay car park is across the forecourt in front of the entrance. Plenty of Long stay parking choice is available at Gatwick Airport. Various types of parking include Meet and Greet and Park and Ride options.
