How does airport hotel and parking work?
If you decide to take advantage of a hotel with parking deal, the procedure for parking your car when you arrive varies from hotel to hotel. The concept, however, is essentially the same for all hotels so it is not important to know exactly what to do before you arrive as the hotel reception staff will be happy to assist you when you check in. Also, more details concerning the procedure can be found on the hotel specific pages of this website so once you have found a hotel that looks like it may fit the bill, you can read more about the parking arrangement before booking. To stay overnight at the hotel and then leave your car during your trip then simply arrive at the hotel, park up outside and proceed to check in. Staff at check in will then be able to tell you exactly what to do. If you wish to stay on your return to Gatwick and leave your car in the hotel car park first then follow the same procedure and let hotel reception staff know that you have arrived with your car.
Will I need to leave my keys with the hotel?
Depending on the policies of the hotel at which you have booked, you may be required to leave your car keys whilst you are away. All hotels featured on Gatwick Reservations employ professional car park management companies to manage their car parking arrangements for them.
The terminals
There are two terminals at Gatwick Airport, the North Terminal and the South Terminal. Both terminals are accessible from all hotels and all hotels are accessible from both terminals. Although you may prefer to stay at a hotel that is closer to the terminal from / to which you are flying it is not necessary to do so.
Direct walkways
The Sofitel at the North Terminal and the Hilton at the South Terminal both have direct walkways from the lobby straight into the terminal building. As these two hotels are located on airport property (where space comes at a premium) 8 and 15 day hotel and parking packages include car parking at the official on airport terminal car parks as oppose to at the hotel car parks. In the case of the Sofitel parking is managed by Meteor and your car will be moved off site on your behalf and returned to the hotel for your arrival back. The Hilton requires that after you check in, you move your own car to the car park. Free shuttle buses operate between the car park and the terminal 24 hours a day. After parking take a 5 minute shuttle journey to the terminal and then walk back in to the hotel. (N.B. Gatwick Airport is currently undergoing major renovation works which involve closing the walkway between the Sofitel and the North Terminal. An alternative route is available during this time.)
Shuttle bus services

Not all hotel shuttles run 24 hours a day, but those that do not generally start early in the morning and end late at night.
