The terminals
Gatwick Airport consists of two terminals, the North Terminal and the South Terminal. The two terminals are connected to each other by way of a monorail (which is currently undergoing renovation and modification works until next summer and therefore intermittently out of service), there is however, a free, regular bus replacement service the makes transferring between the two terminals effortless.
Direct walkways
The Sofitel Hotel and the Hilton Hotel are the only two Gatwick Airport hotels that offer a direct walkway into the terminal buildings from the hotels lobbies. The Courtyard by Marriott is located at the South Terminal and is a brand new hotel and although a shuttle service runs between the hotel and the North and South terminals, the hotel itself is not connected to either terminal.
Why stay at an airport hotel?
There are a number of reasons to book a hotel at Gatwick. With the main motorways into and around the airport being so susceptible to closures or heavy traffic travellers are less inclined to risk missing their flight so opt to be at or near to the airport the night before. Also, flights often leave very early in the morning or arrive back very late at night. People don’t wish to drive at these times so will either stay at a hotel before they fly or on their way back before going home. Another very popular reason to stay at a Gatwick hotel would be to take advantage of some of the ‘Hotel with Parking’ deals that combine an overnight hotel stay with a long term parking package. These are the very best value for money accommodation and parking options available.
Which Gatwick hotel is best?
It depends on circumstances of travel, however, the best value for money hotels tend to be the perimeter hotels. These are the hotels that line the perimeter of the airport but are not actually classed as on site Gatwick Airport hotels in the sense that they are not built within airport owned territory. They do offer the most competitive rates though whether you are looking for a room only or room with parking deal.
Shuttle bus services
All airport hotels featured on Gatwick Reservations offer a shuttle service to the airport and back. They also offer Stay and Park (also known as Park and Fly) packages where the price of a hotel room includes up to 8 or 15 days long term parking.
